Roommate's Share (roommate-s-share.web.app) simplifies shared living for flatmates, messes, and hostels. Key capabilities include: Daily & Common Expense Tracking: Log everyday shared costs effortlessly. Financial Breakdown: Track advance amounts, per-day roommate expenses, and end-of-month balances. Roommate Lifecycle Management: Use the 3-dot menu to hide/inactive departed members and reactivate them if they return. Access Control & Collaboration: Generate Room IDs to invite flatmates with customizable roles (add expenses or read-only). Transparency: Share complete monthly expense breakdowns in one unified dashboard.

You can create or join a room, manage roommates, record shared expenses. track who paid or give , view balances and review monthly expense information. The app is designed to make shared-expense management easier for a group.

Sign In: Open the web app or mobile app and sign in with your Gmail account. Add Roommates: Navigate to the Add Roommate form and add your roommates' details. Generate & Share Room ID: Go to the navigation bar (nav bar), create a Room ID, and share it with your roommates. Join the Room: Ensure your roommates have the app installed. Have them click the shared Room ID link/notification to open the app. Tap the 3-dot menu, select Add Room ID, and enter the ID. Once joined, they can view or add expenses based on the permissions set by the room owner.

To add an expense, click the "Add Expense" button on the dashboard. Fill in the required details, including the expense name, amount, payer, and date. You can also specify if it's a daily or common expense. Once completed, click "Add Expense" to record the expense in the room's shared expenses list.

Active: A roommate is kept as Active when they are currently part of the room's expense sharing. Their expense share is calculated based on their active period. Inactive: A roommate can be marked as Inactive if they are temporarily excluded from the room's expense sharing for a certain period. Their active days and expense shares are calculated based on their specific inactive dates. Hide: The Hide option can be used to temporarily hide a roommate from the list. Hiding a roommate does not delete their historical information or data; it simply conceals them from the roommate list display. To unhide them later, you can go to the Hide Roommate option in the 3-dot menu located in the Navbar.

Using Manage Members, room owners or admins can easily manage the members of a room. This feature allows you to select a member's name, assign their specific role within the room according to your needs, and define relationships with other members. It also provides a clear overview displaying which members have access to specific features in the room. If necessary, a room owner or admin can restrict a user from viewing room data or entering the room, or completely delete a user to remove their access entirely. When managing members, it is important to select the correct member and choose the appropriate action.

Yes. The dashboard calculates each Roommate's balance from the available expense, Advanced payment and Per Head share information. This helps the group see which members need to pay and which members should receive money.

Yes.Review Previous Expenses Go to the Month section in the navigation bar. Select any month to view that month's complete expenses and full summary directly on your dashboard screen.

Yes. Roommate's Share includes language support so users can select an available language according to their preference. The available language options can be changed from the app's Navigation bar.

Yes. Instant PWA Installation: Although Roommate's Share is a web app, opening roommate-s-share.web.app in any supported browser triggers an instant installation prompt. Use it seamlessly as a web app or install it for a native app experience.

Open roommate-s-share.web.app in any browser to land on the homepage, then click Open The App. On the login page, your email will be auto-detected; click Sign in with your Google account to proceed. (Note: If you already have an active login session, the app takes you straight to your dashboard; otherwise, completing Google sign-in on this page redirects you right back into the app.)

Your room and expense information is used to provide the expense-sharing features of Roommate's Share. The application stores the information required for your room, expenses, balances and related features using its cloud-based data system. No. Roommate's Share helps users record shared expenses, calculate balances and understand who should pay or receive money. The actual transfer or settlement of money between roommates is handled by the users themselves.
